translating documents, organizing large-scale events.

Position Overview
First Language Adviser is to provide care and support
to new migrants, ethnic elderly, international students
for Charitable purposes,facilitate the mutual
understanding between New Zealand Charitable
Association Inc. and its partners (Chinese Entrepreneurs)
and get involved in all theactivities organized by New
Zealand Charitable Association Inc.
Job Description
Responsible To
the COO of New Zealand Charitable Association
Key Accountability Areas
The First Language Adviser will be responsible for:

Course Delivery
To undertake the teaching of English courses to new
migrants, ethnic elderly people and foreign students;
and teaching of Chinese courses to non-native Chinese
speakers in the range of programmes offered by New
Zealand Charitable Association Inc.
 
Translation
To facilitate and promote the mutual understanding
between New Zealand Charitable Association Inc.
and its partners (Chinese Entrepreneurs) through
written translation or interpretation.
 
Report
To take part in important events organized by New
Zealand Charitable Association Inc. as MC or reporter.
Be in charge of the websites
sponsored by New Zealand Charitable Association Inc.
 
Administration
To liaise with the COO of New Zealand Charitable
Association Inc. and administrative staff to ensure efficient
and effective administration of New Zealand Charitable
Association Inc.
 
Personal Development
To regularly update knowledge of best practice and take
advantage of development opportunities in all the fields
relevant to the role.
Qualifications          A Master of Arts degree (essential)
                                A teaching qualification (preferred)
 
Person Specification
Experience
The successful applicant will have experience and demonstrated success in teaching. At least two years
teaching experience is required.
 The successful applicant will have experience in translation and interpretation activities.
The successful applicant will have experience in performance and the ability to organize large events.
 
Attributes and Skills
Bilingual ability (Chinese, English), preferably with written and oral fluency in Mandarin Chinese
Effective interpersonal skills
Well-developed time management and organizational abilities
 Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English and Chinese
An appreciation of the needs of people from diverse cultural backgrounds and of their different ways of living
Commitment to being an effective team member
